In life, we often find ourselves facing unexpected challenges that test our resilience and determination.
Recent experiences serve as a powerful testament to the incredible strength of the human spirit and the unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
This long, long week began on Monday when a yellow jacket sting triggered a severe allergic reaction, landing me in the hospital.
Instead of taking off a couple days (like my dr wanted) to recover, I, with lots of help from Benadryl and a prednisone pack, went ahead with what was a rather daunting task.
We had to finish setting up a safe haven house for domestic violence survivors.
In the days that followed, I, along with the help of my family (Jason, Trentyn, and Denver) and my volunteers, poured our hearts and souls into this project.
Our team, collectively, spent around 160 hours in that house this week.
The dedication and selflessness exhibited by my team and the volunteers who joined our mission is nothing short of inspiring.
It's heartwarming to know that there are people like my volunteers who are willing to sacrifice their time, energy, resources, and money to make a difference in the lives of others.
The world can be a challenging and sometimes hostile place, but their actions shine a beacon of hope and support for those who need it most.
Amidst the hard work and dedication, a storm of drama erupted, threatening to derail our efforts.
But, true to our resilient spirits, we didn't let it deter us.
With the help of others involved, we tackled the issues head-on and managed to resolve the majority of them.
This exemplifies the power of collaboration and unity in the face of adversity.
Now, as my team and I stand tired but resolute, it's evident that our journey is far from over.
The path we've chosen, to support and empower domestic violence survivors, is a challenging one.
However, our determination and willingness to persevere are the driving forces that will continue to propel us forward.
This week is a testament to the incredible capacity for compassion and strength within each of us.
It's a reminder that even in the face of personal adversity and overwhelming challenges, we can choose to be a beacon of hope and support for those in need.
We know that our dedication to helping domestic violence survivors know they have support is not just admirable; it's a shining example of the positive change that is possible when individuals come together with a shared purpose and unwavering commitment.
And I'm not afraid of what opposition that might bring.
Hope in action.
Together we can.
That's our mission.
