Rebecca Martin
My personal story
Silently, Out Loud
My name is Rebecca. I’m an ex-Mennonite, cult-surviving, rising like a phoenix, never gonna be known as the woman who kept her mouth shut, warrior of a woman who is far from perfect, trying her hardest to make a difference, be the best wife, mom, friend, and advocate that I can be.
I live with my husband and my kids in south-central Pennsylvania, but I grew up in a small western town in North Carolina. My heart still beats to the rhythm of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the winding roads that run through those mountains.
I am a certified life coach, have a diploma in sexual assault trauma counseling, and am currently working on a degree for Psychology with a concentration in Forensics and a Minor in Criminal Justice. I am also working on certification in religious trauma counseling.
If you have followed any of my writings before this blog, you will know I call out the Christians of today. I am a Christian. A questioning Christian, at times, but a Christian, nonetheless. But, the Jesus you hear about most often is not the Jesus I am familiar with, at all. That is important (to me) for you to know.
Life is full of twists and turns. Twenty-five years ago I never would have imagined I would be here. But somehow the twists of fate have brought me here. I’m not perfect. I will never pretend to be. This is me. This blog will tell you about me.
